Up ahead of festive season in India, two new SUVs are being launched in quick time. One is from Tata Motors’ stables and will be called ‘Safari Storme’, while the other known as ‘Rexton’ is from Mahindra and Ssangyong. Tata Safari Storme was earlier seen in January at the 2012 Delhi Auto Show while launch was expected in the June to September period. Tata Motors must have analysed just ahead of the festive season would be better timed.

Storme resembles the known Tata Safari though interiors have been spruced up with high quality fabric and plastic while it is powered by a 2.2 liter diCOR engine offering 140 bhp at 4000 rpm and 320 Nm torque. Based on the Tata Aria platform Storme will display a host of safety features which will include airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability program and traction control.

In compariso, M&M Rexton is a comfortable 7 seater SUV and will be powered by a 2.7 liter direct injected common rail diesel engine with 5 cylinders. This engine will be capable of producing 162 bhp power and 402 Nm torque and will possess all the qualities and features which will make it capable of being a high performing off roader designed for rough and rugged Indian road conditions.
