Tata Safari Storme SUV launched in Kolkata

Tata Safari Storme was first launched in October 2012. Tata Motors is launching the SUV in a phased manner. They have now launched the car in Kolkata, for a price range of Rs.10.04 lakhs and Rs.14.12 lakhs, ex-showroom.

Tata Motors has already launched their new Safari Storme. Sales have already commenced in certain Indian cities and by late January or early February, Safari Storme will be available at all Tata Motors dealerships across India. Yesterday, Tata Motors launched their new SUV in Kolkata within a price range of Rs.10.04 lakhs and Rs.14.12 lakhs.

First launched in October 2012, Tata decided to sell the new SUV alongside the existing one. The launch of new Storme, was expected to boost Safari sales, but that did not happen, until now. Tata sold 1,015 units of the Safari (2 months avg, Aug-Sep 2012), while for the month of Oct-Nov 2012, Tata registered average sales of 1,028 units, Safari + Safari Storme. For the month of Dec 2012, Tata Motors sold 1,374 units, their best since March 2012, when they sold 2012′s highest, 1,802 units.

Safari Storme possesses a 2.2 liter diCOR engine offering 140 hp power and 320 Nm torque. The engine is mated to an improved 5 speed gearbox sending drive to rear wheels in lower variants and to all four wheels in the top end model. Set to compete with Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500 and Renault Duster, this Tata SUV will be based on the Aria platform and will be seen with brand new interior designs. Drive quality, comforts and improvements in braking performance are also noticed. Tata Safari has a good fan following on Facebook, their total number of fans far exceeds 1 million.
