Tata SUV with Land Rover inputs: Launch 2016, price Rs 10-15 lakh
It was bound to happen. Five years since Tata Motors acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover, it has been finally revealed that both companies are working on introduction of two SUVs for India. Both these SUVs will be sold under the Tata brand name. The first of which, will arrive in 2016 with a competitive pricing between Rs 10-15 lakhs.
The move to introduce two exclusive SUVs is to get stronghold in the SUV segment of the Indian auto Industry. Currently, it’s the Mahindra‘s who are ruling. In spite of bringing the first modern day SUVs to India, like Estate and Sierra, Sumo and Safari, they lost the battle to Mahindra Bolero, Scorpio, XUV500 and Xylo.
But, with the segment experiencing huge rise in demant, all is not lost. Tata Motors Pune engineers are working with Jaguar Land Rover colleagues in the UK to give two new Tata SUVs to India. As per the anonymous person, who is closely related to the development, these two Tata SUVs will surprise everybody and will exceed everybody’s expectations.
Both Tata Motors and Jaguar land Rover are also weighing the options of developing joint engine programs which will be produced both from the company plants in UK and India. The SUVs to be launched will be in line with Tata Motors plans to include a series of UVs in their lineup from 2015 onwards.
