Tata to start producing new Zest and Bolt next quarter
The two new Tata cars, Zest compact sedan and Bolt hatchback made their debut at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo in February. Though Tata did not reveal the launch date for these two cars, they did confirm that both of them will be launched in India in the coming months.
It is now revealed that Tata will start manufacturing of both Zest and Bolt by July 2014. This will allow Tata to launch the cars before the festival season begins. To be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options, Tata certainly hopes that the launch of Zest and Bolt will help them recently lost ground in the Indian auto industry.
Based on the X1 platform, new Bolt and Zest will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol engine will be in the form of Tata’s new 1.2l Revotron engine that generates 85 PS power and 140 Nm torque. For diesel, it will be the trusted Fiat 1.3l Multijet which will do the duty on both, Zest and Bolt. Apart from this, AMT option will also be on offer for diesel Zest sedan, making it countries first sedan to feature AMT.
A lot of research and effort has been involved in the design and development of the Zest and Bolt. Inputs from Tata’s design centres in Pune, Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy) have been taken while developing the two new Tata cars. Featuring all new grille, LED headlights, dual tone premium interiors, ABS, Airbags, HARMAN infotainment system, 5-inch touchscreen for navigation, multimedia, and phone integration, the two new Tata cars are very much awaited by car buyers in India.
