Top 50 best selling cars Oct 2019 – Maruti Dzire No 1, Tata Zest No 50

Maruti Dzire No 1 in India

October turned out to be quite encouraging for the auto sector, as most cars have managed to post positive MoM growth. Several cars have also been able to register positive YoY growth in October. This is good news for carmakers, especially considering the fact that prior to October sales have been falling continuously for three quarters.

Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai continue to be dominant players in Indian car market, grabbing all top 10 and 13 of top 15 slots among themselves. Maruti has 7 out of top 10 whereas Hyundai has 3 out of top 10 slots if we include Kia Seltos. In the top 15, Hyundai has six bestselling cars in the list. Other than Maruti and Hyundai, there’s only Mahindra Bolero (13th) and Tata Tiago (15th) in the top 15 bestselling cars in October.

Compact cars continue to dominate in volumes, grabbing 9 of the top 10 slots. At number one is Maruti Dzire with sales of 19,569 units. This translates into YoY and MoM growth of 12.44% and 24.95%, respectively. Next is Maruti Swift with sales of 19,409 units. This is positive growth of 12.74% YoY and 50.06% MoM. At number three is Maruti Alto with sales of 17,903 units. While YoY growth is negative at -19.28%, MoM sales have improved by 18.73%.
