Tata Zest spied in Pune city, interiors carefully concealed
Tata Zest is probably the most spied vehicle this year, caught again, in Koregaon Park, Pune city. It seems coincidental that Zest was spotted a few meters away from one of the bungalows owned by none other than Tata Group Chairman, Mr. Cyrus Mistry.
Anonymous reader who sent us images could not manage to click the interiors of Zest. Test drivers were alerted, and covered the car with tarpaulin, as they were gone for a quick purchase at a nearby store.
Set to launch in few weeks, Tata Zest is one of highly betted launches this year, expected to uplift the company’s market position. Responsibility is shared with its hatchback brother Bolt, which should launch by September.
Engine specs will be shared among the two new Tata cars. A 1.2 litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine will produce 85 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm torque between 1,750 & 3,000 rpm. Diesel mill as usual will be sourced from Fiat, in the form of 1.3 litre Multijet pushing out 90 PS peak power @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm peak torque @ 1,750 rpm. Zest diesel is confirmed to feature Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), while Bolt petrol is suspected of hosting an AMT.
Price of Tata Zest is expected to fall within Rs. 5 to 7.5 lakhs bracket while Bolt hatchback is anticipated to cost between Rs. 4 to 6.50 lakhs. Tata Zest AMT would be the only diesel automatic sedan in sub Rs. 10 lakh price range.
