Terra Motors launches 1000 cc electric superbike at Rs 18 lakh in India
Japanese electric vehicle manufacturers, Terra Motors, have launched Kiwami 1000 cc electric motorcycle in India. It has a top speed of 160 kmph. To go on display at the 2014 Auto Expo, it has a range of 200 kms on full charge.
Kiwami means ‘Extreme’ in Japanese. Terra Kiwami’s electric motor generates 13 hp maximum power. Completely hand-built, the new electric superbike for India, is priced at Rs 18 lakh, and looking at the images, it surely does not match it’s price tag. Quality of the materials used, does not give Kiwami a superbike feel, leave alone matching the hefty price tag.
But, the makers are optimistic of the Indian two wheeler industry. They aim to sell 10,000 electric two wheelers by the end of next fiscal. Toru Tokushige, founder and CEO of Terra Motors, has revealed that his company will invest Rs 30 crores in India.
Besides the Kiwami electric motorcycle,Terra Motors are also going to launch A4000i electric scooter in India. This scooter will be placed below the Kiwami superbike. A4000i electric scooter uses Apple iPhone as display screen in addition to the scooter’s blue screen, imparting vital information to the rider where battery power, range and other details are concerned. The A4000i battery has total life for around 50,000 kms while it takes a total of 4.5 hours to charge and offers a range of 65kms on a single charge. The eScooter weighs a total of 118 kgs and offers disc brakes at front and rear. (Source)
