The 105 Huntsman Longnose 6.2 V8 auto from Kahn Design
The Chelsea Widetrack Defender is already established as a market leading style icon, so it is difficult for the casual observer to see how the Chelsea Truck Company (CTC) could improve on this winning formula. Here is the news, they just did….
A. Kahn Design, the company behind the design development of the successful Chelsea Widetrack series, has taken the established concept and lit the blue touch paper. When you take Kahn Design’s sublime style and couple it with Paris-Dakar race bred performance technology, the result is a heady cocktail of high octane show and go in the form of ‘The Huntsman Longnose 105′.
This vehicle combines outstanding visual presence with breathtaking on and off road performance. A new race derived braking system ensures that it will always stop every bit as well as it goes. Whether your preference is for off road adventure or urban escapades, the Huntsman Longnose 105 is sure to be the ultimate get away vehicle!
The exterior pack comes complete with strong visual enhancements such as tough new front bumper with integral LED lamps and sump guard, plus vented tailpipe exit mud flaps and a choice of 16” or 18” wheels. The pack also contains convenience upgrades like the very useful side steps. Body styling boasts the Chelsea signature wide wings, crosshair headlamps and rugged new grille.
The interior is a long time customer favourite of CTC Defenders and the cabin of the Huntsman Longnose 105 doesn’t disappoint. Hand trimmed racing seats help the occupant feel instantly at home. The sport steering wheel, drilled pedals and custom dials all contribute to the responsive nature and tactile feel of this high performance thoroughbred.
One of the key factors in the phenomenal success of Chelsea Truck Company has been the ability to personalise the design of an individual vehicle to the exact requirements of each customer. That ethos extends to the Huntsman Longnose. By determining an individual specification for your vehicle it is possible to create, for example, a performance, racing or luxury theme. This could be from identifying the smallest of details to the fitting of a full roll cage and harness system.
Further avenues for personalisation exist with an options list that includes integrated satellite navigation system, 20” wheels, privacy glass, tweed trim detailing and a choice of luxury floor and headlining materials.
There are only plans for 49 UK examples of the Huntsman Longnose 105, which has been designed by A. Kahn Design and will be produced by the Kahn Groups’ coach building division, Ant-Kahn. They will all be based around brand new Land Rover Defenders and retain an uprated version of the supremely rigid Land Rover chassis. Initial production will be based on the Defender 90, though there is rumoured to be a 110-derived variant in development.
Because of its rarity, this vehicle is certain to become an instant collectors item and the brand new vehicle’s on the road price tag of £89,950 is surely superb value for money to gain entry into this most exclusive of clubs. A place behind the wheel of what is probably the world’s fastest production Land Rover is a prize that will only be bestowed on a very lucky few.
