The watch that unlocks Aston Martin: Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Transponder
Swiss luxury watchmakers, Jaeger-LeCoultre have teamed up with Aston Martin to design a new watch that will act as a remote control for an Aston Martin car. Fitted with an electronic transponder, this watch can lock, or unlock your Aston Martin at the touch of a button. Named AMVOX2 Transponder, this watch is an update of the initial timepiece, AMVOX chronograph which was introduced in 2006.
The 2014 version of Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Transponder includes a remote lock and unlock function that allows an Aston Martin to be locked and unlocked by pressing the sapphire crystal on the watch. The system also functions to turn on headlights and find the Aston Martin in the dark. As the owner nears the car he needs to press OPEN position on the glass situated between 8 and 0 o’clock in order to unlock the car. The same thing needs to be done with CLOSE position between 3 and 4 o’clock to lock the car.
This system works due to the presence of a micro transmitter situated in the double case back of Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Transponder while an antenna is built into the watch face. While previous models worked only with DBS, DB9 and Rapide models, this new Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Transponder is compatible with all Aston Martins currently in circulation.
A titanium casing, leather strap with satin brushed steel folding clasp are part of the Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Transponder makeup. It also sports a 65 hour power reserve and 5 bar water resistance and comes in at a price of US$29,500 / €24,200 / INR 17,75,605 exclusive of local taxes, customs and duties.
