Thuringian delegation visits Volkswagen India Chakan plant

Thuringian Minister Mr. Uwe Höhn alongwith a delegation of over 25 members visited the Volksawgen manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune on a tour to India. The VW India plant showcases advanced automotive manufacturing processes in the Body Shop and Assembly Shop.

Headed by Uwe Höhn, Thuringian Minister for Economy, Labour and Technology, the delegation comprises of Thuringian Government members and top Managers of Thuringian companies. The tour aims to better ties between Thuringian companies and their Indian counterparts, explore new opportunities for collaborations and further extend economic relations.

Since 2007, Volkswagen has invested about 700 Million Euro in the Chakan manufacturing facility where Volkswagen Polo and Vento models, and Skoda Rapid are being manufactured. It is the biggest investment of a German car manufacturer in India thus far. In 2013, 100,000+ cars were manufactured here for the domestic market, and for exports to more than 32 countries.
