Tiny Ford Transit vans double the tempo at Glasgow 2014
Ford as partner of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games made it’s presence felt in all quarters, and especially alluring were its miniature Transit vans that scurried along Hampden Park carrying athletes javelins and discus’.
With a presence in 90% of Commonwealth countries, Ford as official Automotive Partner provided a fleet of 1,100 vehicles during the Games. Ford also offered vehicles for the Scotland leg of the Queenâ€™s Baton Relay.
The Baton relay this year traversed 190,000 kms on a 248-day trip, having returned in June 2014. Ford vehicles will then convey it and its support team the length and breadth of the country throughout the 40-day domestic leg before it arrives back in Glasgow for the momentous Opening Ceremony.
Ford’s Glasgow 2014 fleet included Ford Focus, Ford C-MAX, Ford S-MAX, Ford Galaxy and Ford Tourneo. With focus on low CO2 emissions output, a dedicated line-up of Ford Focus electric vehicles were made avialble to the Organising Committee. Ford also stepped in as Official Partner of Team Scotland, Team England, Team Wales and Team Northern Ireland.
The Games from 23 July to 3 August 2014 saw 6,500 athletes and officials from across the Commonwealth. 15,000 volunteers made the games experience truly memorable.
