The irony of the matter is that Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), when translated, means Karnataka Protection Forum. This right wing Kannada conservative organization is located in the state of Karnataka, India and is claimed to have a host of followers (over 60 lakhs) both from India and abroad. Despite the fact that it is meant to protect the interests of its people, the party leader has lashed out at an innocent toll booth collector just for asking him to pay the toll fees.
The entire episode has been captured on CCTV camera located inside the booth and shows the President emerge along with his three or four followers. Angry words between toll booth operator and party representatives ensued only to get violent. Moments later, doors were broken, windows shattered and computer key board was thrown on the ground. Luckily for the attendant, a brave cop intervened before matters could worsen.
Toll booths across India have been faced with such instances of outrage from political parties at some point or the other. Earlier this year, in Maharashtra, a number of workers of Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had been arrested for vandalizing Khairgaon toll booth.
