This ensures smooth transition to BSVI vehicles across the value chain, and ensures that the dealer network is not left out in the cold dealing with stock that aren’t appropriate for the market. With this, TKM has ensured its BSVI transition is well ahead of the regulatory deadline of April 1, 2020.

Toyota Bidadi vehicle manufacturing facility introduced its first BSVI compliant vehicle last month, in the form Yaris petrol BSVI. In January 2019, Toyota Innova Crysta diesel BSVI was launched at an introductory price. Next week, Toyota will launch BS6 Fortuner, at the same price as BS4 Fortuner.

Getting the BSVI diesel variant of Toyota Fortuner production underway, marks TKM’s full and final transition into a fully BSVI manufacturing facility. At present, it would seem the Fortuner BSVI when launched will not right away prove to be pricier. Bookings for the manufacturer’s BSVI vehicles are ongoing, and deliveries of BSVI diesel vehicles will be made in a phased manner to customers. This is dependant on availability of diesel BSVI fuel.

Toyota has been consistently upgrading its vehicles to BSVI tech before deadline. This allows the company to focus o production and sale of BS VI vehicles. With BSVI compliancy, the focus on lower emissions gets a further boost. BSIV stock correction measures ensured liquidation of BSIV inventory in January 2020 itself while focusing on BSVI deliveries. Customers have responded well to the BSVI compliant Toyota Innova Crysta. Having announce the intro price on January 6, 2019, Toyota has already ‘reached nearly the equivalent of one month sales as bookings since the introductory price announcement’.

BSVI vehicle dispatches to dealerships has gotten underway since January 2020 end. TKM is ‘cautious on how customers respond to the increased pricing of the BS-VI vehicles, especially in the diesel car market.’ This response, as is obvious, will be crucial to growth trajectory of the industry. The manufacturer expects the next few months to be highly volatile and challenging for the auto industry. Toyota is working on processes to continuously adapt to changing market conditions.
