Toyota launched a Go Rural plan during the past quarter of 2011. Expansion of markets for Etios Hatchback and Etios Sedan are part of the company’s plan for the coming year and besides targeting urban areas in India will now be concentrating on the rural areas as well. To show their determination, Toyota put on display their range of cars at the Durgapur area in West Bengal. Seeing their tremendous response, the company has decided to target other rural areas in the country where they feel growth will be encouraging.

Toyota will be taking the Go Rural drive to other parts of the country where their cars will be put on display. The project that started at the end of last year reached immense proportions by February 2012 where the company noticed a growing list of interested customers despite their negligible presence in the country. In April the company received 160 bookings and now Toyota will be targeting at least 500 more each month between may and July 2012.

Toyota also plans on increasing their dealerships in smaller cities and towns in India by end of 2012 while increasing this figure two fold by end of 2013. Sensing the availability of finance and money at their disposal with customers in smaller towns and villages is what has prompted the company to take up this ‘Go Rural’ campaign.
