Toyota India sales decline by 24 percent for Dec 2012

For the month of Dec 2012, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Indian arm of the world’s largest car manufacturer, Toyota Motors Japan, sold 12,071 units compared to 15,948 cars sold in corresponding month last year. Passenger car markets performed slower than expected in 2012, but still, most auto companies have managed to register positive sales growth for the calendar year.  Toyota too is one of them, the company managed to register a cumulative sales growth of 27% with sale of 1,72,241 units.

Models like the Innova, Corolla Altis and Etios did well in markets according to statistics revealed by the company. The company sold 90,663 units of the Etios series last year which also included 1,490 units that were exported to international markets.

A cumulative growth of 46% was registered by Innova with sales of 75,911 units. 15,153 units of the Fortuner were delivered to customers that resulted in a cumulative growth of 38% as compared to last year. Sales of the Corolla Altis declined by 26% to 6,912 units as compared to last years figures. The company hopes to win more customers and thereby increase its customer base during 2013 by providing individuals with the ‘Waku Doki’ experience. Registers a cumulative growth of 27% last year

January 1, 2013, New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 12,071 units in December 2012 as compared to 15,948 units in the corresponding month in 2011, sales declined by 24%. The company registered a cumulative growth of 27% with 172,241 units being sold in the year 2012 as compared to 136,150 units being sold in 2011.

The company exported 1,490 units of Etios series last month and 18,422 units of Etios series last year. Including exports the company sold 190,663 units, thereby registering a growth of 40% when compared to 136,150 units being sold in 2011.

For the year 2012, Innova registered a cumulative growth of 46% with 75,911 units sold last year as compared to 51,930 in 2011. Fortuner registered a cumulative growth of 38%, with 15,153 units sold last year as compared to 10,946 units sold in 2011. Etios series registered a cumulative growth of 16% with 73,831 units sold last year as compared to 63,575 units sold in 2011. Corolla Altis cumulative sales declined by 26% with 6912 units sold last year as compared to 9283 units sold in 2011.
