Toyota Kirloskar sales stood at 14,378 units in April 2012 as against 9,681 units in April 2011 that is an increase of 49%. These record breaking results were primarily due to success of the company’s new Etios series which recorded sales of 5,624 units in April 2012 as against 4,657 units in April 2011, and the new Innova of which the company sold 6,582 units in April 2012 as compared to 3,464 units in the same month in the previous year.

Sales of Fortuner also contributed to their outstanding performance during the month of April 2012. The company sold 1,270 units in April 2012 while they sold only 739 units in April 2011 and Corolla Altis too recorded 881 unit sales. Though these four models performed extremely well during April this year, subsequently inquiries have dipped across the industry.

Earlier in the month of April 2012 the company held a function in Chennai when the first batch of Toyota Etios and Etios Liva cars were shipped to South Africa. The first ever Etios export consignment was flagged of marking an important moment in the history of the company. The company shipped 247 units in the first lot of petrol cars which have been slightly modified for exports.
