Toyota already has on offer genuine parts and accessories through Toyota Center and Lexus Center Networks but is also selling through eBay as each year there are a total of £15 million parts and accessories sold through this auction site. The eBay stores will run parallel to Center Networks while the company hopes that buyers from eBay will switch over to Center Networks which will prove to be more profitable for Toyota in the long run.

Pricing will be the same as compared to what customers will pay at their local dealerships, however inventory support will also be offered to customers of older models from 4 to 8 years old. The range of parts offered through eBay will be those commonly needed for periodic servicing and repairs while consumables which include touch up paint, lubricants and polishes will also be on offer. The two stores can be found at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/toyotaofficialstore/ and http://stores.ebay.co.uk/LexusOfficialStore/

Steve Settle, Toyota Director, Customer Services, said: “Opening our new e-commerce channels helps us make genuine Toyota and Lexus parts and accessories available to a much wider customer base. Working alongside our Centres, they will help us maximise our business while providing customers with an alternative, convenient purchase method. Our research prior to launching the online stores revealed that around £15 million of parts and accessories for Toyota and Lexus vehicles are accessed through eBay searches every year, so it offers us great business potential. Our plan is that once customers have engaged with our eBay stores, we will able to build a relationship with them and introduce them to our Centre Network.”
