Toyota has set a limit of achieving sales targets of 1.8 million cars in China by the year 2015.  This will be two fold more than the company witnessed during 2011.  During 2012, Toyota is planning sales of 1 million during the current year which will be an increase of 13.3% as compared to 2011 while they hope to increase sales to between 1.6 million to 1.8 million by the year 2015.

Toyota’s Chinese partners are FAW Group and Guangzhou Automobile Group Company.  To achieve this target, Toyota has introduced three new models in China last year while new Prius es were also be put on sale by December 2012.  During January, Toyota sold 58,700 cars and this figure increased to 66,800 in the month of February.  It is hoped that the company sales will continue in the same vein so as to achieve targets set by 2015.

Toyota Prius and Camry are fitted with imported power trains and hence are higher priced.  Toyota is planning on decreasing prices by fitting Chinese made hybrid cars with locally made engines by 2015 which should also enable the company to increase sales.
