TUCC kicks off in Mumbai with Shah Rukh and Dravid in attendance
Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai played host to a grand opening ceremony of the Toyota University Cricket Championship that saw a number of dignitaries and guests in attendance. Super star Shah Rukh Khan and legendary batsman, Rahul Dravid were present during this event. You can see their interaction with media from the event here.
During course of this event, teams and players will be coached by renowned cricketing legends thereby creating an environment of excitement, fun and joy. First match of this championship was played between Mumbai University and Jamia, Millia Islamia. These matches will be followed by fun and excitement as musicians enthrall the audiences with soothing melodies. During the opening ceremony Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy sang the championship anthem ‘Ab hamari baari hai’ which is an adaptation of ‘We will, we will rock you’ by Queen.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, TKM said, “At the outset, I would like to congratulate all the eight teams who have made it this far in this journey. Toyota is very glad to be associated with University Cricket as we have always believed in promoting sports among the youth. TUCC is a very good initiative to promote cricket at the university level and we are glad to contribute to this revolutionary concept of promoting young talent. We look forward to a very exciting series and wish all the participants the very best”.
Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sandeep Singh, DMD and COO, TKM said, “We are very happy to be a part of TUCC as it encourages and promotes young cricketing talent in India.
