Triumph Motorcycles India launch confirmed for Q3 2013
British motorcycle marquee, Triumph has been eyeing the Indian market for some time now. It all started at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, where they revealed their motorcycle line-up and launch plans for India. They even released the price of their motorcycles, but, never launched them. Now, they are back again, with a promised to enter India by end of Q3 2013.
As per a chat with Triumph Motorcycles India, at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, the range of motorcycles to be launched in India (with ex-showroom, Delhi price) include, Bonneville – Rs 550,000, Street Triple – Rs 575,000, Daytona 675 – Rs 700,000, Speed Triple – Rs 800,000, Tiger 800XC – Rs 1,140,000, Storm – Rs 1,700,000, and Rocket III Roadster – Rs 2,200,000.
But this was in Jan 2012. We are not sure if the British motorcycle manufacturer will be able to keep the same price tag (or the same motorcycles), as import duties have changed. Triumph India plans slowed down due to the need to overcome some initial hurdles. But those are now sorted, and the company is even contemplating long term plans, like to set up a local assembly plant in Bangalore so as to compete with rivals (Harley Davidson) on a common platform.
