2016 TVS Apache spied as launch nears

Update 2 – 4th Nov 2015

After months of absence, the new generation 2016 TVS Apache has been spied once again. Expected to debut later this year or early next year, new TVS Apache will be the most powerful TVS motorcycle ever built. Based on the X21 Draken concept which was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the new spy shot confirms that TVS is progressing steadily with the new gen Apache’s development.

As compared to earlier spy shots, the new spy shot of TVS Apache reveals production ready parts like new alloys, new exhaust with twin mufflers, larger rear disc brake, mud guards, black finish on the engine with TVS logo, upside down fork with golden metallic colour, rear mud guard, and minimal fairing.

Update 1 – 6th July 2015

The new TVS Apache sportsbike continues making test runs. The latest spy shot was clicked by a forum member of Team-BHP. Wearing Karnataka license plates, and that too in white and black, confirms that TVS plans to test the bike in the city traffic as well (red number plates are legally not allowed to ply inside city limits).

Camouflaged completely, a few details which can be squeezed out of the lone spy shot include wider rear tyre, LED tail light, twin muffler on the exhaust, petal disc brakes in the front and rear, upward riding stance, and raised pillion seat.

A new motorcycle has been spied on test in India. With one single image for reference, it was difficult to figure out what exactly it is. But the, not many motorcycle manufacturers have a plant in Tamil Nadu. Only Yamaha and TVS Motors have a plant in Tamil Nadu. And looking at the image below, you can guess to which brand this test mule belongs.

Yes. You have guessed it right. The motorcycle you see in the image above belongs to TVS Motors. This motorcycle spy shot signals that TVS Motors have finally entered the test phase of new Apache.

The test mule is based on the TVS Draken X21 Concept which was on display at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The rear seat height, and tail light position confirm that it is the Draken Concept, in a near-production-ready guise.

Gauging the response TVS Motors received for Draken concept at the Auto Expo, it was only a matter of time before they launched a production ready motorcycle based on the Draken. Considering Apache is their flagship brand in motorcycles, the new Draken based motorcycle is expected to be the new Apache, whose launch is already confirmed for later this year.

Expected to be powered by a 250 cc engine, the new TVS Apache will be the most powerful TVS motorcycle on the market. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of KTM Duke 200, and many upcoming bikes like the Mahindra Mojo, Bajaj Pulsar 200 AS, Hero HX 250 R, Benelli TNT 25, and Yamaha R25.
