TVS Star City Plus replaces old Star City, launched in Pune

The Star City+ has refined and premium overall finish, with attractive colour & decal blend and added detailing to make the bike look more upmarket. It also receives some first-time features like extensive digital instrument cluster with analogue speedometer and advanced digital information display. This info display indicates power mode, economy mode, service due, digital fuel level indicator & odometer, etc. Front shocks are telescopic, while rear ones are adjustable with 5 states of tune. The seats bear dual tone finish with contrast stitching.

Power comes from new Ecothrust engine, that produces 8.4 PS at 7,000 rpm and 8.7 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The TVS Star City Plus sprints from 0 to 60 kmph in 7.6 seconds and goes up to 90 kmph. The Ecothrust engine is designed to provide better fuel economy without compromising on power and torque by carburettor optimisation and ignition system charge (spark) preparation based on speed and load conditions of Star City Plus. Thereby, claiming best in class fuel economy of 86 kmpl. Mated with 4 speed transmission, the Star City Plus comes with electric start option, which can start the engine even when engaged at any gear. Fuel tank can store 10 litres of petrol, including 2 litres of reserve fuel.

Black alloys roll with button type tyres for better grip on non-uniform road condition. The 105 kg Star City Plus has to be stopped by internally expanding (drum brakes) only, with no scope for disc brakes. Color options of TVS Star City Plus include Celebrity Scarlet, Oscar Black, Show Stopper Blue and Titanium Grey.

TVS Star City Plus comes in two variants, one with kick starter only and other with electric start. Base variant Star City Plus comes at price of Rs. 42,800 and one with electric start comes at Rs. 44,000 (ex-showroom Pune). Older Star City is no longer in production, some dealers with leftover stock of the bike may offer discounted price for the same.

Mr. J S Srinivasan, Vice President (Sales), TVS Motor Company said that the Star City Plus is based on customers’ needs and wishes, most important of them being better mileage and styling. Targeted at audience aged between 25 and 35 years, TVS intends to cater to those who are conscious about looks and image. The company is confident that this product will boost their market share within 6 months.
