TVS to launch new Apache and Victor in six months?
TVS Motor Company has announced plans of launching two new bikes in coming six months. One of them would be a commuter, resurrection of Victor nameplate and other would add to entry level performance bike segment under Apache banner.
Buzzing commuter segment saw TVS Victor in early 21st century.A few variants of TVS Victor with 110 cc and 125 cc engines were launched and they reached a lot of homes in rural and urban markets. Eventually, glory of Victor badge faded and TVS Motors pulled the plug on the brand of bikes. It was recently revealed that TVS Victor will be brought back to Indian market as 2014 model, camouflaged test mule of which was spiedÂ recently.
New TVS Victor will be placed below TVS Star City and will compete with top motorcycles in its segment like Hero Splendor and Honda Dream Neo. Launch is expected in September 2014.
New TVS Apache is believed to be based on TVS Draken 250 concept showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The naked street-fighter class is powered by 249.2 cc liquid cooled engine with 4-valves, Dual Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI). It produces 38.5 Bhp maximum power and 23 Nm peak torque.

Mr. J S Srinivasan, Vice-President (Sales), TVS Motor Company, said that the company’s market share last year was 12 percent, and it is currently at around 13.5 percent. He expects 14 to 14.5 percent by end of 2014 and the company’s target is set at 18 percent in next two years.
