Top 5 upcoming SUV, MPV, Crossover launches under 10 lakhs in 2014

Honda Mobilio – Slated to launch tomorrow (23rd July 2014) in Delhi, MPV segment entrant is expected to send competitors like Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Nissan Evalia and Chevrolet Enjoy behind and become segment leader in a short span. With best in class ground clearance and fuel efficiency as claimed by Honda, Mobilio would follow the success path of Honda City.

Engine options on Honda Mobilio will be same as City’s, with Earth Dreams 1.5 litre diesel unit producing 100 PS max. power and 200 Nm peak torque. This engine on Mobilio is more powerful and efficient as well, but Honda has limited top speed at 143 kmph, giving rivals the advantage of taking over on highway. For instance, Maruti Ertiga can get past 160 kmph.

Petrol model gets renowned 1.5 litre iVTEC engine that sends out 119 PS max. power and 145 Nm peak torque. It gives mileage of 17.3 kmpl. Yet again, this engine makes Mobilio throw more punch whilst saving more fuel than competitors.

Datsun Go+ – While MPV segment is booming in India, another new arrival, from Datsun, would definitely be welcomed and appreciated by buyers on budget. Maximum power of 68 PS at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 104 Nm at 4,000 rpm are churned out by the engine. Not to mention the rugged appeal of muscular bodywork and tailgate mounted spare wheel.

Powertrain kits would be shared from Fiat Punto EVO; include a 1.2 litre petrol engine making 68 PS & 96 Nm, a 1.4 litre petrol unit pushing 90 PS & 114 Nm, two 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel engines, one producing 76 PS and other sending 93 PS out, all through front wheels. 5 speed transmission is only available option, no AMT.
