Vespa LX125 automatic scooter is now priced at Rs 59,960

Vespa LX125, the automatic scooter for India, is now available for a new price of Rs 59,960. Piaggio has slashed its price by Rs 6,700, from its earlier price tag or Rs 66,000. They now hope to sell more units.

Piaggio India launched Vespa LX125 automatic scooter in India during April 2012. The tso wheeler was looked upon as a prime crowd puller, but the company could only manage total sales of 25,000 units in the country for 2012. Piaggio India competes with other automatic scooter makers in the country such as Honda, Yamaha, TVS Motors, Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp, which operate in the mass market segment.

Piaggio however, had positioned the Vespa LX125 as a lifestyle scooter. It was launched with an initial showroom price of Rs.66,000 which the company was forced to reduce to Rs.59,960 following sales not as per expectations. This drop of Rs.6,700 is what is expected to make the Vespa LX125 more attractive to cost conscious Indian buyers.

Vespa LX125 is powered by a 125cc engine producing 10.06 ps power at 7500 rpm and 10.06 Nm torque at 6000 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 10 seconds and reach a top speed of 90 kmph. Fuel efficiency is at 40 to 42 kmpl in city limits which is augmented marginally on longer runs.
