Vijay Mallya welcomes Sergio Perez to Force India F1

The only Indian F1 team, Sahara Force India, jointly owned by Kingfisher’s Vijay Mallya and Sahara’s Subrata Roy, has announced that Sergio Perez will be joining Nico Hulkenberg in the team for the 2014 season.

Perez has already proved his skills as an F1 driver, finishing 10th in 2012 with Sauber and received two second place finishes at Malaysian and Italian GPs. During 2013 season, the Mexican with McLaren was placed 11th in Drivers’ Standing with 49 points.

He joins Force India Sahara Team, making a great pairing for the coming season and will also bring with him substantial sponsorship from Carlos Slim which will be welcomed by both Mallya and Roy. Perez, 23, will drive along side Nico Hulkenberg and takes the place of Adrian Sutil for the 2014 season. Adrian Sutil will drive for Perez’ previous team, Sauber, while Paul Di Resta is yet to find himself a seat in F1 car for 2014 season.
