Volkswagen will be presenting their new Beetle cabriolet at the Los Angeles International Auto Show which commences on November 28th 2012 and goes on till 9th December 2012. It may be seen from the new third generation Beetle Cabriolet that will grace the stalls of Volkswagen that it is a larger vehicle than its predecessors. It is more athletic in appearance while also promises to be more fuel efficient.
The Cabriolet is longer and wider and has a lower roofline while its soft top takes just 9.5 seconds to retract due to a newly installed electro hydraulic drive system and can be raised in 11 seconds and opened even while driving upto a speed of 50 kmph.
In the US, Beetle Cabriolet will be seen in dealer showrooms by end of this year and will be offered in three engine options starting from a base of 2.5 liter gasoline unit offering 170 hp and 177 lb/ft torque mated to a six speed automatic. A 2.0 liter diesel engine offers 140 hp and 236 lb/ft offering 41 miles per gallon while the fastest model of the range is fitted with a 2.0 liter turbocharged TSI gasoline engine offering 200 hp and 207 lb/ft torque that is available with either six speed manual or DSG automatic.
