Volkswagen China working on a sedan between Jetta and Passat
Shanghai Volkswagen, a JV between German car manufacturer Volkswagen and Chinese car maker SAIC – Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, are working on a new sedan….
This new Shanghai Volkswagen car is codenamed A-Plus as of now. It will be similar in size to the Jetta, currently being produced by FAW-VW, (another Chinese JV between Volkswagen and First Automobile Works), while it is expected to be wider at the rear offering addition comforts to passengers.
Volkswagen’s new Lavida was presented at the 2012 China Auto Show in Beijing earlier this year. It is similar to the Jetta available in India, with a restyled body. Clean styling and distinct body lines are evident. Lavida is offered in three engine versions and four equipment lines while the base version possesses a host of safety features which include ABS, ESP and front airbags. Volkswagen has specially designed this vehicle with advanced technologies to suit the needs of Chinese customers.
