Volkswagen Group A Chance to Play initiative in Brazil. Volkswagen Groups Work Council in collaboration with the child rights agency ‘Terre des Hommes’ have been trying to improve conditions for poor children in Brazil, through ‘A Chance to Play’ initiative.

A Chance to PlayVolkswagen Groups Work Council in collaboration with the child rights agency ‘Terre des Hommes’ have been trying to improve conditions for poor children in Brazil, through ‘A Chance to Play’ initiative. Sports, training and educational activities have been arranged for more that thousand girls and boys as a part of this initiative.

Through this program Volkswagen aims to provide support for education and social development for underprivileged children. Ambassadors for this initiative include musician Peter Maffay who is a member of the board of trustees of the Volkswagen Employees Foundation. Through this program VW hopes to implement aid projects in this region at a cost of €2 million. This initiative was launched in 2010 during the soccer World Cup in South Africa, since then it has helped over 50,000 children in S. Africa and 60,000 children in Brazil.

The group has undertaken 14 projects in the country to help fight child poverty in this region. It has also undertaken a mission to create a crèche and impart anti- violence training to children in poorer districts.
