Volkswagen India to sell multi-brand used cars under Das WeltAuto 3.0

Volkswagen-approved used cars will be sold through 105 Das WeltAuto (DWA) outlets across India

German automaker Volkswagen (part of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India) has confirmed its plans to enter the country’s used car business. Through the new Das WeltAuto 3.0 (DWA) programme, Volkswagen India aims to create a professional and transparent environment for potential buyers or sellers of used cars. In fact, the company is not limiting the business to Volkswagen products but intends to sell choices from all major brands operating in India. Over the years, several automakers have introduced used car platforms alongside their regular retail outlets.

In the starting phase of Volkswagen’s used car network, 105 Das WeltAuto outlets will be opened across India. Every product coming under it will be thoroughly checked and certified by well-trained professionals. As an added bonus, Volkswagen Das WeltAuto is also offering accessories, service schemes and warranty packages (up to 12 months).

To go along with the current state of affairs as well as to provide more convenience, Volkswagen Das WeltAuto will be introduced in an online format too. The online used car sphere of India is dominated by popular names such as OLX. Owing to this, Volkswagen digital used car platform (website and app) has a simple yet comprehensive UI with categories based on buying, selling or exchanging a four-wheeler. Volkswagen’s DWA mobile app lets users self-evaluate their current vehicle employing IndianBlueBook algorithms.

Speaking about the new initiative, Steffen Knapp, Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, stated that the company intends to shift the country’s used car business segment from an unorganised system to an organised example. Volkswagen greatly prioritises value for money in its new line of business.

Steffen Knapp further added that the ongoing COVID-19 crisis has raised a demand for “accessible and safe individual mobility options”. As a result, customers are focusing on used cars. He is confident that DWA will gain momentum in the months to come and stay strong in the post-COVID scenario.

Some of the benefits of owning a Volkswagen-certified used car include extra-convenient trade-in or exchange processes, finance options, 160+ evaluation criteria, reconditioning using genuine parts, comprehensive warranties, vehicle customisations (accessories) and competitive market pricing. Meanwhile, the benefits of upgrading to a used Volkswagen product are easier value estimation (within just three minutes), detailed valuation report, exclusive offers and benefits, hassle-free transfer of ownership and more. The ‘Affordability Calculator’ helps assess the vehicle price one can afford on an instalment basis.
