Volkswagen Group India is on a selling spree, and the company has recorded a sale of over 55,091 cars in the past six months of this year in comparison to 17,367 sold during for the corresponding months last year.  According to Dr. John Chacko, Group Chief Representative and MD of Volkswagen in India, these figures show increasing customer confidence in the Volkswagen product portfolio fr the Indian car market.

Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen, all recorded enormous success during January to June 2011.  With new launches of Audi A8, R8, A7,RS5 and Spyder there are more choices for customers and hence sales volumes are increasing. Audi sold 2,802 cars and recorded 100.1% growth as against only 1,400 cars sold during the same period previous year.

Skoda too recorded growth of 49.6%.  Volkswagen launched the Vento IPL edition and Passat, both of which showed tremendous growth potential. Volkswagen completed 10 years since its entry into India with Skoda in 2001.  10 models and over 160 dealerships have seen Volkswagen Group India take on the Indian auto sector.  Inauguration of one more plant with an investment of Rs. 3,800 crore is expected to have a capacity of 130,000 cars annually ensuring that Volkswagen si well placed in the Indian car market.
