The period January to August 2012 may have been a difficult period for some auto manufacturers following rising interest rates, high fuel prices and a questionable economic situation. However, for Volkswagen Group this period of 8 months has proved to be flourishing.

The company recorded a 10.2% increase in worldwide deliveries with the company dispatching a total of 5.91 million vehicles during the period. August 2012 deliveries itself accounted for a total of 719,500 units, an 18.9% increase as compared to that experienced in the same month a year earlier wherein 605,300 units were delivered. The company is closely monitoring developments in America, Eastern Europe and Asia where markets are more or less stable but is worried about the situation in Western Europe were situation is not as predicted.

In Asia Pacific region, VW Group experienced a 17.9% increase in sales with 1.98 million vehicles handed over in the period January to August 2012. Out of this 1.74 million units were delivered to China alone accounting for the region’s largest market. Deliveries in America too saw an increase to the tune of 24.5% during the 8 month period, while in European markets the Group delivered 2.47 million vehicles, an increase of 1.7% as compared to the same period in the previous year when they delivered 2.43 million units.
