Volkswagen India increases car prices from 1st January 2014
The month of December will be the best time to make car purchases, even though it may mean lower resale value. Car manufacturers in India are announcing price hikes across range with effect from 1st January 2014 citing higher input costs.
Almost every car maker in India has announced a price hike, including luxury car makers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. Volkswagen, leading German automakers, too have announced car price hike from January 1, 2014. The company will increase prices up to 2.5% which will encompass the company’s entire product portfolio.
Volkswagen sells Polo, Vento, Passat, Touareg and Phaeton in India and is offering exciting schemes in December, prior to price hike. Volkswagen’s December offer allows buyers to drive home a Polo or Vento at half the price and pay the balance in EMIs over a period of three years or as a onetime payment in the next year. The offer is called “Volkswagen Offer of the Year’ and ends 31st December 2013.
Commenting on the increase in prices of its carlines, Mr Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said “We have been faced with constant rise in input cost over the past several months and have tried our best to absorb it. However, in order to maintain our quality standards that our customer expects from us, we have had to increase the price by a small percentage.”
