Volkswagen India passenger car sales decrease 10% for August 2013
For January to August 2013, Volkswagen India has delivered 41,400 units, when compared to 46,400 cars delivered in the same period in 2012.this equates to 11% sales decline. For August 2013, 4,500 cars were delivered when compared to 5000 units in August 2012. Thsi equates to 10% sales decline for the month.
In European markets the downward trend continued with Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivering 1.08 million units in the period January to August 2013, a drop of 6.7% as compared to 1.15 million units delivered in the same period in 2012. Deliveries across Germany were also not upto expectations primarily due to severe weather conditions in the area which damaged a multitude of vehicles.
In North America, the company deliveries in January to August period was up 3.3% to 417,200 units as against 404,000 units in the corresponding period in previous year while in Asia Pacific, the company delivered 1.70 million units as against 1.46 million in the January to August 2012 period resulting in an increase of 16.7%. It was out of this, that 1.56 million units were delivered to China. The company is putting up quite a display at the ongoing International Motor Show at Frankfurt, where they are presenting their electric mobility by showcasing the e-up! and e-Golf models.
