Volkswagen new parts distribution centre in India

German luxury vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen is coming up with a new parts distribution centre at Bhiwandi at Thane near Mumbai. The ground breaking ceremony was conducted and the center is expected to be completed by 2014. This is the second parts distribution depot which Volkswagen in coming up with after their first one at Gurgaon.

Enhanced after sales services and strengthening the relationship with customers in India is the main aim of this new centre which will cater to the sales and service needs of western, eastern and southern regions that accounts for 60% to 65% of genuine part sales for Volkswagen Group. The upcoming facility will be spread over an area of 21,000 sq. mtrs and will be fitted with warehousing software called ET2000 which is specially designed for Volkswagen Group India.

The centre is ideally suited and built according to Volkswagen global standards to enable quick and easy availability of genuine spares to dealers and service centres within a matter of 24 hours to dealer networks in western regions while southern regions will be supplied with their requirements in 72 hours. The facility will have a lean team of Volkswagen personnel who will manage operations with a third party logistics service provider. Focus will be on customer satisfaction and the Group is also planning to incorporate Porsche and Lamborghini parts under the umbrella of Group Service to cater to Pan India dealer demands.
