Volkswagen in deeply committed to strengthening relations between Federal Republic of Germany and Sultanate of Oman. Views of Germany – Views of Oman is a weeklong photography exhibition being organized by Volkswagen German – Omani Association which opened at the Bait al Baranda on Saturday. The exhibition was inaugurated by President Sheikh Quais bin Salim al Khalili and contains 45 photographs in two sections.
The first section contains photos taken in Germany by Omani students studying there. They also contain prize winning entries from 2011 and 2012 editions of photo competitions organized by the association. The second section – From Banal to the Sublime is a collection of pictures by Dr. Thomas Zacharias of the Munich Fine Arts Academy who has visited Oman on many occasions. His photos depict day to day life and some scenes which most tourists would miss. A comparison is also made between Oman Aflaj and water channels seen in Paris.
Volkswagen is represented in the country through Wattayah Motors, official dealers for Audi in Oman. Wattayah Motors recently partnered with the second edition of Al Mar’a Excellence Awards recognizing the importance of developing Omani talent which facilitates outstanding Omani businesswomen and professionals who have served as Oman’s ambassadors. The new VW Passat 2013 was recently launched through these dealers while the new Polo sedan is eagerly awaited in the region.
