Volkswagen Polo and Vento sedan spied testing in India for export markets
Volkswagen India was recently caught testing Polo and Vento Left Hand Drive sedans near their plant in Pune. These sedans will be exported to markets like Mexico. Produced from the company plant in Chakan near Pune, the Vento is also exported to markets which include the Middle East and Malaysia.
Volkswagen currently exports CBUs besides spares and components to 30 foreign markets and is keen to add more countries to this list in the immediate future. Taking into account the weakening rupee, Volkswagen is also trying to boost localization from a current 70% to around 85-90% in the coming years. They are also looking at assembling engines in India, so as to lower selling price of their cars.
