As confirmed by a dealer in Chennai, Polo GT TDI is discontinued and GT TSI will not be available for next 4 to 6 months. Benefits by way of cash discount, insurance fee reduction, corporate concession and exchange bonus summing up to Rs. 75,000 will be provided across all variants of Volkswagen Polo.
Maximum exchange bonus announced is Rs. 20,000 and cash discount Rs. 55,000, depending on variant and few factors. For example, Highline Polo diesel gets Rs. 25,000 cash discount and Comfortline Polo diesel gets Rs. 55,000 off. Additionally, insurance fee will be reduced or cut and corporate employees are given Rs. 3,000 extra discount.
This stock clearance exercise is carried out to make way for upcoming Polo facelift. Dealer confirmed that new Polo 1.5 litre diesel models are arriving at showrooms by second week of July. Also mentioned that GT badging will not be seen on Polo anymore, though GT spec variants will continue to be on offer.
Upcoming 1.5 litre diesel engine will be available in two specs, 89 bhp and 104 bhp. Petrol variants of new facelift Polo would get the same 3 cylinder 1.2 litre engine producing 74 bhp at 5,400 rpm for regular variant and 4 cylinder 1.2 litre TSI turbo giving out 103 bhp at 5,000 rpm for GT trim.
