A dealer in Chennai enthusiastically explained all features of new Polo GT TSI Automatic and in the end dropped a bomb that deliveries would take 4 to 6 months. The dealer added that variants with 7 speed DSG auto including Volkswagen Vento TSI will take so long due to very limited production. Test vehicle (Polo GT TSI facelift) would not be available in Chennai as there are no mechanical changes compared to pre-facelift GT TSI model, hence customers will get to test the earlier version itself.
Cosmetic changes in new VW Polo GT TSI will include new front fascia introduced in facelift Polo (single chrome slat in grille and chrome strip connecting front fog lamps), chrome GT badging placed on right side of grille (instead of left in earlier GT variant), ORVM is given piano black cap and roof lip spoiler is also given gloss black treatment. Volkswagen Polo GT TSI is available in three colours, white, red and grey; new orange is not on offer.
Interior of new Polo GT TSI gets full black interiors similar to Cross Polo’s, silver trims around centre console equipment, piano black trims on steering wheel spokes and new Multi Function Display (MFD) with white text (instead of orange in previous model).
Powertrain is same as mentioned before; 1.2 litre Turbo Stratified Injection (TSI) petrol engine producing 105 PS @ 5000 rpm and 175 Nm @ 1500 – 4100 rpm, mated to 7 speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG).
Volkswagen Polo GT TDI will also get same exterior and interior features as new Polo GT TSI facelift and use new 1.5 litre TDI engine in higher tune (as high as earlier 1.6 litre GT TDI), 105 PS @ 4400 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1500 – 2500 rpm.
Volkswagen Cross Polo facelift with new 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine producing 90 PS @ 4200 rpm and 230 Nm @ 1500 – 2500 rpm is ready for delivery in Chennai. New Cross Polo retains full black interior theme as in earlier Cross version and gets suitable updates from regular Polo facelift, like silver trim on centre console, piano black steering wheel decors, new grille pattern on exterior, dual headlamps, and the like.
Volkswagen Polo GT TSI can be booked at advance payment of Rs. 50,000. Price of Polo GT TSI facelift is Rs. 7.99 lakhs, same as price of new Polo GT TDI. Volkswagen Cross Polo has a price tag of Rs. 7.90 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi).
