2014 VW Polo finds first owner in Germany: India launch by July
Volkswagen Polo facelift made its world premier at 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Deliveries have begun this week in Wolfsburg, where Hermann Siefke became the first owner in the world of new VW Polo. The car was a Deep Black Pearl coloured 1.2l TSI BlueMotion variant with 90 PS power.
After Germany, the new Polo will soon be launched across the globe. In India, it has already been spied on test on various occasions. Now, it has surfaced that the new Volkswagen Polo facelift is slated for launch in India by July 2014. It is during this same time that the company will also be launching the face lifted version of Vento.
Volkswagen Polo facelift will be seen with a host of cosmetic and mechanical changes. Rumors suggest that it will receive a new 1.5 liter diesel power plant which is being manufactured locally at the Volkswagen plant in Chakan. This engine on board the new Polo Facelift will be capable of 104 bhp power and 240 Nm torque but is being detuned to make it more fuel efficient. Besides this 1.5 liter engine, the new Polo will also receive a 1.2 liter three cylinder petrol engine producing 74 bhp peak power and 110 Nm torque.
Design changes on board the Volkswagen Polo facelift will include new headlight clusters which are carried over from the pre facelifted European Polo, a new front bumper with chrome strips and new fog light enclosures. At the rear will be seen a larger registration plate and new reflectors on bumper. Modifications to interiors will ensure that Facelifted Polo is more attractive to buyers with a new steering wheel, new center console and color displays besides AC controls all of which combine to give the new Polo a more premium appeal.
Once successfully launched, the new 2014 Volkswagen Polo Facelift will compete against other premium hatchbacks in its category which include Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 and Fiat Punto facelift (which too is expected to be launched by July).
