Volkswagen Russia unveils 2015 Vento Facelift with LED DRLs

Despite the fact that Volkswagen Russia is going through trying times at the plant in Kaluga, the company has taken wraps off 2015 Volkswagen Polo sedan, which is the same as Volkswagen Vento in India.

2015 VW Polo Sedan will enter production at the company’s Kaluga plant in Russia with sales set for mid June. The plant in question is in the throes of crisis with 150 workers being laid off while work shifts have been reduced from three to two. The plant was shut down from 5th to 18th of May so as to balance production while the plant operates on four days per week. This problem exists due to the fall in the Russian currency. To make matters worse, analysts predict Russian auto market to dip 20 percent this year.

Despite these odds, the company is eager to launch the 2015 VW Polo Sedan facelift which has been its best selling model in Russia. The new Polo sedan will come in with cosmetic updates in the form of bi-xenon headlights, LED DRLs and new front bumper. Updates will also be seen in the form of a new 3 slat chrome grille, cornering fog lamps and a host of chrome accents.

Interior updates include a new two toned colour scheme, three spoke, flat bottomed steering wheel borrowed from Mk7 Golf and Climatronic single zone auto air conditioning. The model also receives front and rear power windows, central locking and dual front airbags while side curtain airbags are offered as an option.

Compared to the Indian Vento facelift, which was unveiled earlier this week, there are hardly few differences between the two. This includes LED DRLs, chrome badge just below the ORVM, black and beige interiors, larger driver arm rest in black – on the Russian variant. Indian variant does not get LED DRL, no chrome badge, brown and beige interiors, driver arm rest in beige.

Speaking about engine option, the 2015 VW Polo Sedan facelift will sport a 1.6 liter petrol engine offering power in two tunes of 85 and 105 PS. The engine will be mated to a 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic (Indian variant gets 7 Speed DSG, 2 petrol engines and one diesel engine). 2015 VW Polo Sedan facelift will be offered in three trim levels to include Trendline, Comfortline and Highline (these are same as here in India).
