Volkswagen is in the process of boosting output from its Bratislava factory which is expected to reach 400,000 units during this year with the launch of their new Small Family subcompact models. From its Slovakian plant the company rolls out Touareg, Audi Q7 SUV and Porsche Cayenne bodies. The two week break is something that the company has been resorting to regularly during the summer.
At the start of this year, production of Volkswagen Up! commenced at the Bratislava plant from where the company produces 50% of this model. Eco Up! is also being contemplated which will use natural gas engine and an electric engine while production should commence from 2013. For this, the company has invested €308 million while employing a further 2000 employees and a host of suppliers to assist them in production. Production at the VW unit will commence from August 13th after a two week break.
