The LA Auto Show will be a trip down memory lane. Volkswagen is planning the third generation of Beetle and is preparing to bring out…
Three special launch editions are planned one for each specific decade going back in time to Beetle’s history which began in the 1950s. Special touches will be given to the vehicles which will be period specific and each of these three models will be seen in spectacular exterior colors with matching upholstery and white tyre walls.
The new Beetle drop top will be launched this fall and considering the vehicle’s remarkable history it is only apt that the previous models occupy the ramp with the current model
The VW New Beetle is a compact car which was introduced by the company in 1998 and drew inspiration from the original Beetle. Unlike the original Beetle, the New Beetle has its engine in front driving the front wheels with its luggage storage at the rear.
The 2012 model will be called Volkswagen Beetle and carries a host of similarities to the original Beetle such as separate wings, vestigial running boards, sloping headlamps and large round tail lights. It is being assembled at the company plant at Puebla, Mexico.
