Volkswagen XL1 111 kmpl production variant arrives: 2013 Geneva

Debuting for the first time as a production ready variant at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, this super-efficient small car possesses an innovative design with a whole lot of internal comforts and safety features.

Volkswagen XL1 possesses a 47 hp two cylinder turbo diesel engine mated to a 27 hp electric motor. A top speed of 160 kmph and acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 12.7 seconds, the XL1 comes with a 261 mpg (111 kmpl) rating.

This two seater hybrid is capable of driving upto 31 miles on pure electric mode while it weighs a total of 1,750 pounds. Its coefficient drag is pegged at 0.189 while it also has a low centre of gravity.

Volkswagen has confirmed production of XL1 will commence this year at their plant in Germany, while prices are expected to be in the $100,000 (€76,950, INR 54.78 lakhs) range. Complete information on the XL1 production variant can be found here.
