2014 Volkswagen Polo facelift variants, features & specifications
Volkswagen launched facelift version of Polo premium hatchback just yesterday, to update styling cues and replace 1.2 litre 3 cylinder and 1.6 litre 4 cylinder diesel engines with new 1.5 litre mill. Both petrol and diesel versions of new Polo have three variants each, just like earlier offer. They are Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Lets take a look at what each trim has to offer.
Mid variant Comfortline benefits from added dual-beam headlamps, new front fog lamp design and 15-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers, when exteriors of Polo facelift is concerned. Top end Polo Highline comes with 15-inch “TOSA” alloy wheels (set of 4), grey wedge at top section of windscreen, chrome application on air dam and cornering lights, on top of aforementioned features.
Interiors – Entry level Polo gets high-quality, scratch-resistant dashboard, 3 grab handles above doors, folding with coat hooks at the rear, storage compartment in front doors, including holders for cups, 1.5 litre bottles Sunglass holder inside glovebox, front centre console including 12V outlet, single folding rear-seat backrest, driver-side dead pedal, black interior theme and sporty flat-bottom steering wheel design.
Polo Comfortline additionally receives luggage compartment cover/parcel tray and ambient lights only. Highline Polo can be seen with brushed-aluminium finish on front centre console, chrome interior accents, new fabric “Desert Beige” and dual-tone interior theme instead of full black on lower variants, leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome accents and piano black finish, and leather-wrapped gearshift knob and handbrake lever handle.
Safety features – Trendline model, in other words, every Polo variant gets front disc brakes, height-adjustable head restraints (front and rear) L-shaped rear head restraints, electronic engine immobiliser with floating code, interior rear-view mirror with anti-glare adjustment, 3-point front seat belts, 3-point rear outer seat belts, lap belt in the middle, high-mounted stop lamp, emergency exit, rear fog lamps and dual front airbags (driver and passenger side).
Comfortline and Highline VW Polo are offered with front fog lamps, anti-pinch power windows and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as well.
Other functional features in 2014 Volkswagen Polo include air conditioning, dust and pollen filter, height-adjustable driver’s seat, gear shift indicator (in diesel version only), speed-sensing electronic power steering, steering wheel – tilt & telescopic adjustable, central locking with boot-opener digital clock and fuel gauge, front intermittent wipers (4-step variable speed setting), instrument cluster with tachometer, speedometer, odometer and trip meter, vanity mirror in left-side sun visor, ticket holder in right-side sun visor, ‘Push to open’ fuel lid, 14-inch steel spare wheel, lane change indicator and manually adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs).
Polo Comfortline trim is offered with few more equipment like electrically adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs), power windows with one-touch operation (front and rear), CD/MP3 player with USB, Aux-in, SD card input and 4 Speakers, rear defogger, rear windshield wash & wiper, remote-controlled central locking, opening and closing of windows with key remote and monochrome multi-function display (MFD) that includes travelling time, distance travelled, digital speed display, average speed, fuel efficiency.
Polo Highline version gets even more facilities like ‘Climatronic’ automatic air conditioning, bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones and Voice Command (depending on mobile handset capability), Voice Command, speed-sensing auto door locks, steering wheel with controls for audio, and rear parking sensors.
Colour options in 2014 VW Polo include new Copper Orange, Candy White, Night Blue, Flash Red, Carbon Steel, and Reflex Silver.
GT models of 2014 Volkswagen Polo, GT TSI with same 1.2 litre petrol and GT TDI with same 1.5 litre but both in higher tunes, will be launched in late August 2014, in Highline trims only.
