Naked Bicyclists took to the streets of San Francisco last Saturday. This band of daring and baring riders comprised an eco group of naked audacious bikers from West Norwood who took to the streets with passion and were joined by more than 1000 people on a nine mile cycle trip from Hyde Park across some of London’s most famous land marks and even stopped to give the Queen a wave at Buckingham Palace. These bikers are not in the nude for any other reason but to press for green living and to highlight the vulnerability faced by cyclists on London Roads.

A similar such naked bike ride is coming to Los Angeles where cars may rule the roads but cyclists too are pressing for their demands and riding in the buff is one way of drawing attention to their plight and the many dangers and perils they encounter on city roads.

World Naked Bike Ride is an international protest against the dependence on fossil fuel and the projection of a green, clean and safer way of transportation. The event portrayed the lack of infrastructure on city streets to accommodate safe cycling and negative dangers faced by cyclists and pedestrians due to over dependence on oil and other forms of non renewable energy.
