Yamaha Fazer FI version 2.0 spied, with FZ V2.0 Blue Core engine?
Yamaha Motor India launched version 2.0 fuel injected FZ and FZ-S just a few days back, maintaining tight lip on logically upcoming Fazer FI. Now that it is spied testing, we can be sure that Fazer upgrade is coming soon. As Yamaha Fazer was not showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, could the Japanese motorcycle maker have something more special than FZ V2.0 to add to new Fazer?
Spied Fazer bears neither camouflage nor badging, but body styling similar to FZ & FZ-S version 2.0 is seen. Angular fuel tank, split seats, new grab rail and new tire hugger are inherited from latest FZ launch. Front fairing that sets Fazer apart, gets noticeable makeover to accommodate sportier headlamps.
It may be in Yamaha’s playbook to keep new Fazer contained until hype of new FZ & FZ-S settles. 2014 Fazer would more likely feature same new slightly underpowered 149cc engine mounted on FZ V2.0. New 2014 FZ & FZ-S share max. power reading of 13.1 PS and peak torque of 12.8 Nm from that of 14 PS and 13.6 Nm delivered by older 153cc engine.
Instead new Yamaha Fazer FI would be better received if offered with higher state of tune. After all, the bike does seem capable of handling more power than it currently features. Can the possibility be entertained? Can Diwali launch be expected?
