Yamaha M-Slaz 150 to debut in Thailand today; new photos and details emerge

The Yamaha M-Slaz 150 cc street fighter is all set to debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo which is set to commence today. Based on the fully faired R15’s Deltabox frame, the naked motorcycle adopts a fresh design and a new inverted telescopic front suspension.

The product highlights include a projector headlamp, a daytime running light on the fairing, contrast knuckle guards, muscular fuel tank with sharp extensions and black cladding, engine cowl, split seats, new alloy wheel design, fully digital instrument console, LED taillights and monoshock rear suspension. The motorcycle in red is accessorized with an after-market exhaust system.

The Japanese two wheeler giant has not revealed any details about the powertrain yet but we expect it to be the same 150 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that powers the R15. The fuel-injected motor produces 17 PS at 8,000 and 15 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm on board the supersports bike. Transmission is a 6-speed unit. We expect the engine and transmission to be tuned to suit the street fighter.

Dimensions of the new Yamaha M-Slaz stands at 1,955 mm x 795 mm x 1,065 mm (L x W x H). Ride height is 805 mm while it has a ground clearance of 164 mm. Speaking about fluids on board, it has a fuel tank capacity of 10.2 litres, oil capacity of 1 liter and liquid coolant capacity of 0.52 liters. Batter rating is 12 V 3.0 Ah MF. Front wheel gets 17 M/C-MT 2.75 alloy wrapped around 110/70-17 M/C 54s rubber, while rear gets 17 M/C-MT 3.50 alloy wrapped around 130/70-17 M/C 62s rubber.

Yamaha India already has nine different 150 cc models on offer currently which means, positioning the M-Slaz would be a tricky affair. So, it remains to be seen if the new motorcycle will make it to our shores.
