India Yamaha Motor has issued a recall for a total of 13,348 units of FZ25 and Fazer 25 manufactured from June 2018. The recall includes 12,620 units of FZ 25 and 728 units of Fazer 25 and is being undertaken to address the issue of head cover bolt loosening.
The motorcycles thus recalled will be repaired free of cost at all Yamaha authorized dealers and recall notices are being sent out to customers individually. The company is working along with dealer partners to ensure that these repairs are addressed in a convenient and efficient manner.
Speaking about the bikes, Yamaha Fazer 25 is priced at Rs.1.44 lakhs as on date in its BS4 format while the price is expected to go up further by around 10-15 percent for the BS6 compliant model. It is presented in two colour options of Soulful Cyan (Grey and Blue) and Rhythmic Red. It is powered by the same engine as the FZ25 and competes against other fully faired 250cc motorcycles like Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and Honda CBR250R.
On the other hand, Yamaha FZ25 is priced at Rs.1.36 lakhs; following a recent price hike in October 2019. It is the most affordable 250cc motorcycle on sale in India right now. The FZ25 is powered by a 249cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine offering 20.9 PS power at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed transmission. Suspension is via telescopic fork in the front and monoshock at the rear while braking is through disc brake at both ends with dual channel ABS. The Yamaha FZ25 competes with the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
India Yamaha Motors is in the process of upgrading all bikes to BS6 formats and the recently launched FZ-FI and FZS-FI mark the first BS6 variants to roll out of company production lines. The FZS-FI is presented in two color options of in Darknight and Metallic Red. The Metallic Red will be priced at 1.01 lakhs while the Darknight will carry a price tag of Rs.1.02 lakhs. The launch of other BS6 compliant line ups would be announced in the coming months.
Yamaha has scheduled a launch event on 19th Dec 2019. Which is when they plan to launch the new R3 facelift in India, with BS6 engine. Before that, you can expect Yamaha to launch R15 V3 BS6 variant. Yamaha Fascino BS6 scooter is expected to launch next year.
