Yamaha R25 arrives in India for R&D: Declared price is Rs 2.16 lakhs
A 250cc Yamaha motorcycle has been imported into India via Air Cargo from Indonesia. The document stating the same has been leaked, which apparently also carries the price tag of this 250 cc motorcycle. Now we already know what is going to be unveiled in Indonesia in a few days time. So, no marks for guessing what this Yamaha bike is.
Yamaha Indonesia will unveil Yamaha YZF-R25 on 20th May, 2014. This will be a global unveil. Though, no plans for India launch or unveil have been officially announced, Yamaha dealers in India have been saying to enthusiastic buyers that they can expect a launch by yearend.
But they cannot say for sure. Good news is that one unit of Yamaha 250 cc motorcycle has already arrived in India. This unit is not for retail sale, but for R&D purpose. Another important piece of information this document reveals is the declared price of this 250 cc Yamaha bike, which stands at Rs 2.16 lakhs. Shocked? Don’t get too excited as declared value is never its launch price.
As far as engine is concerned, details are still sketchy. Yamaha YZF R25 could be powered by a parallel twin 250cc engine with peak power of around 35 PS, while being mated to a 6 speed transmission. Dimensions stand at 2000 mm, 720 mm and 1140 mm in length, breadth and height respectively. While it will sport split headlights, sports fairing and web designed alloy wheels. It has an instrument cluster with both analog tachometer and digital readouts with white backlight as seen on board R15.
Yamaha YZF R25 will make it to India via the CKD route, where it will compete with Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR250R and soon to be launched KTM RC390.
